27-year-old Spurs ace with ‘January break clause’ is now a ‘top target’ for Euro giants

Tottenham defender Sergio Reguilon has been linked with a permanent exit from the club in recent months.

The 27-year-old Spanish defender is on loan at Manchester United but Borussia Dortmund are keen on signing him during the January transfer window. Sky Germany reporter Patrick Berger has now revealed on his social media account that the 27-year-old left-back is a ‘top target’ for Borussia Dortmund during the January window and they have already made an enquiry regarding a six-month loan deal.

Berger has also confirmed that there is a ‘January break clause’ in the Spanish defender’s contract with Manchester United and therefore Tottenham will be able to bring him back and send him out on loan at another club.

Reguilon has hardly been a key player for Manchester United and it wouldn’t be surprising if the Red Devils decided to part ways with him. They had no plans to sign the player initially but had to secure his services after the injury blows to Tyrell Malacia and Luke Shaw.

The Spaniard is going through a rough patch in his career right now and he needs to join a club where he will be able to get ample first-team action. It will be interesting to see if Dortmund provide him with the platform to resurrect his career.

The 27-year-old was highly rated during his time in La Liga but the move to the Premier League has not worked out for him. Leaving Tottenham permanently would be ideal for all parties and Dortmund are certainly a top club and the player is likely to be attracted to the idea of playing for them.
