25-year-old Tottenham ace admired by Postecoglou is ‘fighting to save his career’

By Saikat -

Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Brandon Austin will be out of contract in the summer and it remains to be seen whether he can secure a new deal with the north London club.

A report from Football Insider claims that the 25-year-old goalkeeper is admired by manager Ange Postecoglou, but he has not made a senior appearance for the club since 2015.

The report further states that the goalkeeper is “fighting to save his career” and it remains to be seen how the situation develops. He will be a free agent in the summer and there have been rumours that Tottenham could look to offer him an extension.

Austin is the third-choice goalkeeper at Tottenham after Guglielmo Vicario and Fraser Forster. He needs to play regularly at this stage of his career and an exit from Tottenham would be ideal for him. Signing a new deal with the club would only limit him to the role of a squad player in the near future as well.

Austin should look to move on and join a club where he will get ample game time. The 25-year-old has had loan spells away from Tottenham and it will be interesting to see how the situation develops.

The report claims that manager Ange Postecoglou likes the 25-year-old because of his attitude and he believes that Austin is a positive influence in the Tottenham dressing room. It will be interesting to see if the north London outfit can convince him to sign a short extension with them.
