24-year-old has ‘caught the eye’ of Tottenham, club officials to scout him tomorrow

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly keeping tabs on the Sporting CP midfielder Morten Hjulmand.

The 24-year-old has impressed with his performances for the Portuguese club this season, scoring twice and picking up three assists across all competitions. He has ‘caught the eye’ of the Londoners this season.

The Danish defensive midfielder has done well to protect the Sporting CP defence and his presence has allowed the creative players to operate with more freedom as well.

According to journalist Dean Jones, Tottenham officials will scout the player in action tomorrow when Sporting CP take on Benfica in a mouthwatering Portuguese League clash.

It will be interesting to see if Tottenham follow up on their interest with an offer to sign the midfielder at the end of the season. They could certainly use more depth in the middle of the park and the Denmark international could replace his compatriot Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.

Hojbjerg has fallen down the pecking order at the north London club and he needs to leave in order to play regularly. An exit in the summer would be ideal for all parties and Tottenham will have to replace him adequately.

Meanwhile, a move to the Premier League will be a major step up for Hjulmand and he will relish the opportunity to showcase his qualities in England. However, the midfielder completed his move to Sporting CP at the start of the season and he has a long-term contract with them until the summer of 2028. He is unlikely to be cheap acquisition and the Portuguese club could demand premium for him. It remains to be seen whether Tottenham are prepared to break the bank for him.
