24 Incidents Of Losing The Ball Plus Extremely Substandard Passing: But Not From A Player You’d Expect

By The Boy -

Harry Kane had a miserable game against Dinamo Zagreb as a striker, just 4 shots of which 3 were on target, but this only tells us a fraction of just how much hard work the England captain had against him. Kane lost the ball 24 times, and on 7 occasions, this was in his own half. Just for context, Harry’s usual rate for losing the ball is approximately half that number.

Harry’s basic passing was also hugely substandard, again for context, his successful passing accuracy was 46%. I cannot emphasize enough, I get that this is a lesser stat for attacking players. However, the 27-year-old normally hits around 72%.

That’s a massive drop – and one has to start looking at the quality of his teammates on this occasion as it does take two to make a successful pass happen. Harry’s numbers are SO bad that one must surely seek to look beyond just calling a player of his stature ‘rubbish’.

The plit thokens.

I don’t like Celtic, as they are always pretending to be a big club only to be knocked out of Europe by such powerhouses as Cluj or Sparta Prague, so I was glad Rangers put them in their place this year in the league.

But with what they’ve pulled regarding last night…they’re clowns. People shouting racism to shift attention away from their failures are disgusting to me.

Never particularly liked Gerrard, always had him down as a humourless oik. The only person I’ve heard of getting away with – in an actual law court – a ‘preemptive assault’.

Fully agree snd wasting his career treading water at Spurs. He would score 30+ a season at City. There is room in the squad for another top striker if Levy is prepared to stump up the transfer fee and wages rather than shopping in the Mr.Byrite bargain bin. Harry is a good enough player to adapt his game to work with anyone. He is our leading assister this season after all.

Whilst I know 4-4-2 is not as popular as it once was it always pretty much meant you had two out and out strikers meaning you had to have a third and fourth in reserve. We play with one and barely have one in reserve 🤷🏻‍♂️

Judging from Skysports comments, allegations have already been taken as evidence. A festival of Rangers fans downplaying the challenge on the Slavia keeper (things like that happen), shouting “racism”, and Leicester fans joining in to condemn Slavia’s “dark arts”.

People will still tell you there’s no room in the squad for two top strikers. I would like them to tell that to PSG, for example.

If you want top class results, you need top class players. Even Kane would profit from serious competition for his spot, but he has never had that at Spurs, and it is only thanks to his relentless professionalism that he didn’t get complacent and kept improving and reinventing himself. A rare talent indeed.

Saved from relegation by Chinese owners who put quite a lot of money into the club. Now they’re playing at a decent European level and are virtually assured of the title every season.

Knocking out Leicester, Rangers, and a year ago Sevilla, the kings of the EL, is pretty good for a Czech team. Let’s hope they can repeat the trick against the Arse.

True. I suppose some people are using racial slurs on social media in the current anti-racism climate because they know that will produce the biggest effect and get the most attention.

Rangers have behaved despicably throughout and I’ve lost a lot of respect for them and Gerrard. They couldn’t handle getting done by Slavia.

Let’s be clear, like Poch before him, Jose is in a no win position with HK. The back up is unproven and even when it is as we had in Bobby Soldado, the opportunities to play are limited to domestic cup games if they’re lucky, then of course the inevitable short run when HK gets the usual annual injury.

What happens ? They flop couldn’t score in a bothel with £20 in their back pocket. Fans get on their back, confidence saps out of them.

fast forward …. Kane’s got a knock yet he’s still seen as the better choice over Vinnie, just like the CL final when Moura was the clear choice but no… A 50% fit Kane gets the nod.

The over reliance is embarrassing.

No crowd either to drown anything out.

Social media is cancer, you never know who’s sending the abuse.

It’s unbelievable – more cameras, better technology, lip-readers, testimonies but no one can find definitive proof?

No one is talking about the keeper getting his head kicked in, which is something they actually did get on camera. Roofe was then targeted by racists on social media, which should never happen, but maybe he should count his blessings he’s not being prosecuted for attempted manslaughter?

I like Slavia as, like Vicenza, they have had to deal with ENIC.

Yep, mentioned this a few blogs back. Slavia called the accusations “disgusting” and as Slavia have 4 or 5 black players I find it hard to believe these accusations. Rangers lost the match, lost the plot, exited the competition, Keemar Roofe almost killed their poor keeper and this looks like a desperate diversion attempt and also gets racism conveniently back in the news. Rarely do these type of things end in any proof or charges….still waiting to hear about the supposed racism from Yeovil fans a year or so back. Multiple cameras, people everywhere yet nothing. Nobody heard anything but the players. 2 men were arrested and released without charge and then it was swept under the carpet. There’s an agenda here.

Sorry in advance for the off-topic, but is everyone paying attention to the quite incredible fallout from the Rangers-Slavia Prague game?

Rangers soundly beaten at home 2-0 finished the game with 9 men and arguably, that should have been even fewer, as they completely imploded. Kemar Roofe almost killed (and this time, it’s not a SAF-style exaggeration) the goalkeeper with a kung-fu kick to the head, breaking his forehead and likely ending his season. There were other ugly challenges mainly from Rangers, as they lost the plot, and got another red card for their troubles.

Now allegedly – after the red cards – Ondrej Kudela said something racist during the game to Glen Kamara, who apparently waited for him inside the stadium after the match and punched him in the face, then ran inside the home locker room to hide. The attack was premeditated, as the cameras in that spot had been obscured in advance. Apparently Stevie G was there, saw the whole thing and didn’t even bother apologizing.

Today, Rangers captain Goldson came out saying “I genuinely despise them” and “I never felt anger on the pitch like this before”, condemning racism etc., shifting the debate immediately from whether the allegations are true or Rudiger-esque (or whether it’s acceptable to get two red cards, including one that could have led to permanent brain damage) to “they are racists, they’re swine, I hate them”.

Slavia for their part are going to press charges (physical assault) and both club and player vehemently deny any allegations. It also should be noted some of Slavia’s best players are black (Olayinka, Sima, Dorley).

But the damage is done. No one is talking about the way a relative European minnow dumped out Leicester and now the great Scottish champions by schooling them at their own home. The debate is racism and Slavia might have been tarred with the same brush as Spurs VS Rudiger not long ago.

listening to the Spurs show today the lady on the panel said 100% a group of players went to Levy’s desk and told them that Poch needs to go…..same thing is happening again….Manage your football club Levy you waste of space!!!

Harrys not fully fit, probably playing with an injury. He came back from two injured ankles a month early because he knows Mourinho desperately needs him and he is the ultimate competitor.

It must be difficult to keep giving it everything when he takes a look at some of the so called professionals he has to play with.

Even world-class players can look bang average surrounded by Poundland dross. What really worries me about Kane is that he had no fire in his belly for the NLD or this match and that says to me that he has made a decision to leave at the end of this season. Son will end up at Real Madrid if Kane leaves. Levy will use the money to buy in a sale bundle of young potentials that he has run through his spreadsheets to see what asset value increase they can generate in another four-year project. This will be under either a new young and “cheap ” manager or Jose who will be looking to establish some recovery of reputation having spent a year and a half with this largely sub par squad.
