23-yr-old has ‘interest’ from Spurs but club needs to sign a replacement first

By Saikat -

Chelsea defender Trevoh Chalobah has been linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge this summer.

The 23-year-old is unlikely to get regular game time under Thomas Tuchel this season and he needs a move in order to continue his development with regular football.

A loan move would be ideal for the versatile young defender and he has been linked with a number of clubs including Tottenham, Roma and AC Milan.

According to a report from Evening Standard, Spurs are keen on signing the player on loan this summer. It will be interesting to see if Antonio Conte decides to pursue the Chelsea youngster until the end of the window.

The report reads: “Trevoh Chalobah has loan interest from Tottenham, RB Leipzig, Inter Milan, AC Milan and Roma but must wait for Chelsea to sign a defender before he can leave.”

A move to Spurs might not be in the player’s best interests considering the fact that he might struggle to start regularly for the Londoners.

Spurs already have the likes of Emerson Royal, Davinson Sanchez, Eric Dier and Cristian Romero at their disposal. Chalobah will only be a backup option for Conte if he joins the Londoners this summer.

On top of that, Chelsea might not be keen on strengthening their rivals. Therefore, it is fair to assume that Chalobah to Spurs is a no-go for now.

It remains to be seen where the 23-year-old ends up eventually.
