There’s managing expectations, and then there’s Vlad the Impaler shouting through your letter box that he’s going to kill you, your children, your pets, your children’s pets and then he’s going round to your mother in law’s to do all her washing and ironing and bake her a lemon drizzle cake.

Whilst Maurico Pochettino has been lauded for his ability to improve players, nobody is superhuman.

But how long does it take to change a collective weakness of the mind amongst a gaggle of so called professional sportsmen?

Poch thinks it may be a good while yet.

“I hear that it’s not so good, our record away from home against the top five. But that is wrong,” Pochettino said.

“Because if you look at history, and compare it with the last six seasons, you can maybe see that the last two years we’ve improved a lot competing against the top five or six in the Premier League.

“You cannot change that mentality, that problem, in one and a half years. That is a process to change. Maybe I will have time to improve that and change it. Maybe not. That is football.”

This makes me sick to the pit of my stomach.

It’s not the money their all on – including him – t’s the fact that he’s come out in public and acknowledged that the club has ‘being a pansy’ hardwired into it’s DNA.

This talk of philosophy and is all well and good, but some of us will be dead and buried before Spurs ever win anything again at this rate.

Our expectations have been well and truly managed, folks.

Poch has just mumbled through your letterbox something about not holding your breath.

Levy can’t believe his luck with this one.
