“The worst case for him” – Injury expert shares insight on Tottenham star’s injury

Tottenham Hotspur have faced significant challenges with injuries throughout the ongoing campaign, with more than 20 players from Ange Postecoglou’s squad experiencing setbacks at different stages of the season.

Adding to their woes, left-back Destiny Udogie, who has been enjoying a standout campaign, is the latest casualty to join the injury list.

Despite the challenges, there’s been a glimmer of positivity for the Lilywhites.

Right-back Pedro Porro, whose participation in the recent North London derby was uncertain due to injury, managed to complete the full 90 minutes in the 2-3 loss against Arsenal.

It was disclosed that the Spaniard’s fitness was closely monitored leading up to the crucial fixture, as he was recovering from a hamstring problem.

Dr. Rajpal Brar has hinted that Porro might have required surgery if he hadn’t recovered from his injury.

In an interview with Tottenham News, Dr. Brar, a physical therapy doctor and sports scientist, provided an update on the defender’s fitness.

He conducted a thorough analysis of Porro’s hamstring injury, suggesting that it was likely a high Grade 1 or low Grade 2 injury, based on the timeline of his return.

Pointing out encouraging signs in the 24-year-old’s recovery, Dr. Brar highlighted Porro’s capacity to complete the full 90 minutes against Arsenal.

He stated:

“The worst case for him would’ve been a Grade 4 hamstring rupture and surgery could have been required which would keep him around 12 weeks out.

“The goal was to return versus Arsenal, which he did, so this was a high Grade 1 or low Grade 2 injury.

“The key signs medics will look for is that he’s responding well to increased intensity, especially sprinting and acceleration.

“He played the full 90 minutes versus Arsenal so that’s a good indicator that he’s responded splendidly.

“He should be good to start in midweek as well with no real risk of re-injury.”

Porro holds a pivotal role in Spurs’ starting XI, balancing defensive duties with his significant contributions in attack.

His presence is essential for the Lilywhites, given that the former Sporting player has delivered an impressive tally of 7 assists in his 30 Premier League appearances this season.
