Thought to be valued at some £30million, right now, Arsenal are doing their level best to retain the services of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

Teams rumoured to be currently interested in the midfielder are Liverpool and Chelsea but Gladys tells me that it’s Spurs that have crept in with a low key enquiry for the lad.

At 23 and thought to be earning a ‘mere’ £70,000 per week, this wouldn’t be a bad fit for the Tottingham.

What’s amusing here, is that if Aunty Wenger wants to keep the Ox at the Emptycrates then his hand will be forced. To play him more often and to pay him arguably more than he’s worth.

There’s another underlying factor at play here, which Glad brought us via this blog, namely Nike.

Nike are are coming our swinging in the UK with their branding acquisition of Spurs and their next stable of Premier League players to promote the brand.

The Ox is a part of these plans. Perhaps a move out of the darkness and into the Lilywhite would suit all concerned.

They won’t sell to spurs. I find him a bit inconsistent. Dare I say a touch of the Ross Barkley’s about him.

But by all means bring him and Vecino in

This time next year it’ll be the likes of Winks, Janssen, Onomah and N’Koudou that United will be after from us. That’s after two seasons under Poch’s tutelage of course.

    • David Dillenberg June 25, 2017 at 11:48 am

Thats assuming Janssen and Nocluedo will not already have been sold.

IMO the type of “fringe players” who would strengthen Spurs are Fabrigas and Willian respectively neither of whom will be joining.

  • SpurAndy 🍒π June 25, 2017 at 11:28 am

Not condoning Levy’s reluctance to get his hands dirty until the last minute but one plus factor is that once the big boys have done their business it might, and I stress might, release some players that weren’t previously available at decent prices. I’d still prefer him to get jiggy with it early though.

  • UnkleTaff June 25, 2017 at 11:26 am

The Mirror are reporting that Mourinho wants Kane and Morata to spearhead his attack next season.

Whilst there’s obviously not a cat-in-hell’s chance of that happening, I wonder what Marcus Rashford thinks upon reading such reports.

If Mourinho does continue to overlook him in favour of more expensive imports, there will surely come a time when he starts to question his loyalty to his club.

He’s a very, very good player already; just think what two years of Pochettino tutelage would do for his game.

    • David Dillenberg June 25, 2017 at 11:27 am

Thumbs down. Rashford not for me but could be used as bait + Smalling.

      • ronwol196061 June 25, 2017 at 11:28 am

        for who????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

        • David Dillenberg June 25, 2017 at 11:28 am

        • David Dillenberg June 25, 2017 at 11:34 am

SA you have misinterpreted me. Likely Manure players used as bait for Dier and Kane are Rashford, Shaw and Smalling.

          • SpurAndy 🍒π June 25, 2017 at 12:03 pm

Fair do’s. Based on those players, never in a million years for me.

    • JuandeInternational June 25, 2017 at 11:29 am

Now that would have me jumping up and down like a 5 year old on red bull. Such a talent and total self belief.

  • ronwol196061 June 25, 2017 at 11:25 am

If we are keeping Lamela and Son and we have Eriksen why do we need him?

Meanwhile News Now is rife with Mourinho the prick wanting Kane.

We could use a fantastic central midfielder cant understand about this Ox man,Its peripheral to me

    • David Dillenberg June 25, 2017 at 11:26 am

IMO we need the likes of a pacy Martial but I sense he is staying put.

    • Mattspurs June 25, 2017 at 12:11 pm

He was playing rwb at the end of the season so could play there?

  • gloster1861 June 25, 2017 at 11:20 am

I’d consider Ox, but for about the same money would prefer Siggy back.

  • JuandeInternational June 25, 2017 at 11:20 am

Not a bad shout. Seems to have more about him than the very hit and miss Walcott, but needs an extended run. However, if a bidding war starts, that’s us out. As you’ve said before on here, let others pick what they want first and see what’s left lying on the ground at the end.

His injury record is iffy, but there could be many reasons for that. Training methods, medical team, attitude of the player to get back quickly if he doesn’t rate the current manager etc.

Would they sell they to us though? As others have said, not likely.

  • 61SpursNut🌰 June 25, 2017 at 11:16 am

I don’t hate Arsenal and I don’t dislike the Ox.
    Bring him in.

    • SpurAndy 🍒π June 25, 2017 at 11:22 am

      My thoughts exackerly.

      • David Dillenberg June 25, 2017 at 11:24 am

Pure fantasy as he wont be joining us.

  • UnkleTaff June 25, 2017 at 11:13 am

Oxlade-Chamberlain, much like Walcott before him, was an outstanding talent at Southampton but, under Wenger, has failed to develop since his move to Arsenal.

I’d take him in a heartbeat … were it not for his troubling injury record. That would be a worry for me.

    • gloster1861 June 25, 2017 at 11:14 am

Has he had a great deal of time out?

      • gloster1861 June 25, 2017 at 11:18 am

I see he has recurrent hamstring problems this season.

      • UnkleTaff June 25, 2017 at 11:21 am

For some reason I was under the impression that he’s missed a lot of games recently. But according to this…

        https://www.premierleague.com/players/4252/Alex-Oxlade-Chamberlain/stats?se=-1

…he’s featured in more than 20 league games in each of the past three seasons. That’s more than he’d be expected to play for us, I’d’ve thought, so let’s get him.

      • Harry Hotspur June 25, 2017 at 11:27 am

        As much as Lamela? 😜

    • SpurAndy 🍒π June 25, 2017 at 11:17 am

Most players at the Arse have injury probs, maybe it’s the way they train. Wouldn’t necessarily use that against him if the price was right.

      • 61SpursNut🌰 June 25, 2017 at 11:18 am

        We are so similar.

  • gloster1861 June 25, 2017 at 10:54 am

Yes. Presumably to play right side of midfield a position currently vacant without Lamela, and Sissoko offski.

  • SpurAndy 🍒π June 25, 2017 at 10:43 am

I think Poch would get a choon out of him and he’d strengthen our bench. Add in the Arse upset angle so its a yes from me.

    • McG ⚽⚽ June 25, 2017 at 10:55 am

They won’t sell him to us in a month of Sundays, why would they want to strengthen their fiercest rival having just finished below them in the league? I’ve heard more credible transfer tales on Jackanory.

      • SpurAndy 🍒π June 25, 2017 at 11:15 am

They wouldn’t if they thought they were strengthening but clearly Wenger doesn’t really rate him cos if he did he’d be a permanent first teamer. I think Poch can improve him where Wenger can’t. So if Wenger realises that then you’re right it’s not gonna happen. But if his ego tells him that no one can do anything if he can’t then just a slim possibility. At the end of the day and the going down of the sun I tend to think like you that it’ll never happen.

  • Sexy Beast June 25, 2017 at 10:27 am

To many reasons why it won’t happen, what position does he actually play?

    • McG ⚽⚽ June 25, 2017 at 10:35 am

Who cares, ain’t happening… Half decent player, but he’s not competition for Eriksen & isn’t as good as Barkley.

      • Harry Hotspur June 25, 2017 at 10:43 am

FFS, this must be the funniest thing I’ve ever read.

        • McG ⚽⚽ June 25, 2017 at 10:49 am

Really, his two prem goals to Barkley’s five makes him a better aquisition does it? Not as strong on the bal either. I’m not laughing, what’s funny here? He does have a decent assist rate, granted.

          • McG ⚽⚽ June 25, 2017 at 10:50 am

            *acquisition

          • Harry Hotspur June 25, 2017 at 11:03 am

You’re buying midfielders based upon goals scored? Glad you’re not scouting for us…

            • McG ⚽⚽ June 25, 2017 at 12:10 pm

Really? The more goal scoring mifielders you have, the more chance you have of winning. We certainly don’t need anymore DM’s, so not sure where you’re coming from there..

              • Mattspurs June 25, 2017 at 12:14 pm

Ox is pretty versatile and was even playing at RB at the end of last season (when the goons actually started winning a few) he’s potentially even a replacement for Dembele

  • crespur June 25, 2017 at 10:27 am

Would be a great signing for Spurs. We’ve had a few of their players over the last 10 years, so I’d like to see the powers tp be at THFC have a go at bringing the OX in.

    • Harry Hotspur June 25, 2017 at 10:42 am

Gallas turned out to a sensational buy. I’d shop there again without hesitation.

Fascinating that we’ve not had one comment about how Poch would take him to the next level.

The ‘Arsenal’ thing is beyond embarrassing. We really have some complete saps in our fanbase.

      • jfdit June 25, 2017 at 10:46 am

yes agree with that entirely, he would fit into Poch’s system flawlessly & would improve with doubt, gone stale under wenger

        • Harry Hotspur June 25, 2017 at 11:28 am

          Stale is the right word.
