Sky Sports suggests summer move for striker with 23 goals and 21 assists could happen; player wants the move

Tottenham Hotspur signed Timo Werner on loan from RB Leipzig in January, with an option for a permanent transfer included in the deal.

The deal includes an option to sign him on a permanent deal for £15 million at the end of the season.

According to Sky Germany, despite having a contract with the Bundesliga club until June 30, 2026, Werner has no future at Leipzig.

The report further claims that the player feels very comfortable at Tottenham and would like to stay there long-term.

It adds that the option to buy has to be activated by the start of the Euro 2024 at the latest, as the buying option for the wide forward for €17 million expires after that.

Leipzig manager Marco Rose also recently hinted that they might lose their loaned striker to Tottenham on a permanent deal this summer, as reported by BILD.

Werner has adapted smoothly to life in North London under Ange Postecoglou, showcasing his impact with direct goal contributions, whether as a starter or coming off the bench.

In just 446 minutes of Premier League action spread over 8 appearances, the 28-year-old has already notched up 2 goals and 2 assists. (Transfermarkt)

Postecoglou is likely satisfied with the speedster’s performance thus far, given his significant experience in English football, having previously played for Tottenham’s North London rivals, Chelsea.

Before rejoining Leipzig, Werner scored 23 goals and provided 21 assists in 89 appearances for Chelsea.
