Or at least it would be if anything helpful were occurring.

Belgian outlet LeSoir are not alone in believing that Tottenham war horse Mousa Dembele is being led out to a South East Asian pasture.

People’s republic soccer ball big boys, FC Beijing Guoan are the lucky recipients of our warn out Belgian.

Top of the Chinese pops

Moussa Sidi Yaya Dembélé who is 32 in July, has been at Spurs since the 2012/13 season.

Whilst Mousa has frequently been unplayable, his career has been haunted by injury.

This is a player that Maurico Pochettino famously said that he wished he had been able to manage decades ago.

You’ll be sorely missed, big man.

Paul fair point but compared to classy dominant Man Utd sides of old winning what was it 13 PL titles for Fergy IMO it is a decent outfit in a state of transition but aint the best. Whilst Mata is simply a bit part player both Lukaku and Sanchez have disappointed incurring exhorbitant transfer fees have proved underwhelming transfers to date.

De Gea, Matic, Pogba, Herrera, Mata, Sanchez, Rashford, Lindberg, Lukaku, Martial plus as good if not better squad players than us and that’s not a pants side Dilly. That’s a top four side and probably will still get there under OGS. Add a decent manager with a plan and a couple decent defensive additions and they are top three side and evens with Cheatski once they sort out a striker. I currently still only rate our squad as 4th/5th best but we’ve been winning ugly and punching above our weight again, so far.

IMO Man Utd are not a great side and there for taking but now simply better managed and organised than previously.

It’s a funny old game and bitter irony when against Chelski IMO getting lucky outplayed by a better opponents we deserved to lose and won where against Man Utd we probably deserved to win based on our dominant second half showing and presentable chances created but lost!

The record against the other top sides this year backs that up. Either we have a bunch of players who believe they are something special, or there’s something very rotten running thru the club. The truth is probably in the middle but I totally agree. Until you win things I don’t believe you should have any attitude, you should be hungry. To many times for me various individuals seem to disappear in the big games, and why gazaniga isn’t given a chance baffles me. I don’t care who you are and include kane in this, if you ain’t doing your job your out, that’s how you keep a team motivated and at it

Have it on good authority that the team were due up in Manchester after the game for a piss up. Many of the squad believe own hype behind the scenes apparently. Poch may have given this lot a bit too much confidence! Kane apparently is an absolute pro does not get involved in any extra curricular. The rest , not so much

If Dembers is allowed to go this month without being replaced it will further clarify the nature of the project. Souness again tried to get through to enic a couple of days ago..

‘If they are going to rely on youth players then forget it, they won’t be challenging the big guys’

Can’t wait to see Dembele finally go so we can stop pretending he’s world class and can fill his space with someone who isn’t obsessed with passing sideways, can actually get up and down the pitch and has an actual goal threat.
Stayed 2 seasons too long imo contributed next to nothing in his 1st 3 seasons with us, overall has been a over hyped flop that’s won nothing.

Context is everything.

We were ‘better’ in the second half because suddenly we had the most to lose if we were not better. Relatively, it’s easier to be better when your immediate goal is parity and the pressure of outright winning is removed. Far harder to be the ones that set the agenda and control the outcome.

Going 0-1 down provided us with the motivation to focus more, work harder and take the initiative to them but we were already losing. Teams that win things and regularly beat the other best teams more often than not find these higher abilities and take the initiative when the score is 0-0. Yes there was an initial error that contributed to us going 0-1 down but it did not lead absolutely to it because the manure players still had to master a bunch of other skills based/pressure sensitive scenarios to actually score. They did and we did not.

On the face of it it’s very plausible to write last night off as being fate, hand of god type stuff and righteously buy into any of the we woz robbed.. how did we not score.. we were the better team.. scenarios and on any individual night it can genuinely feel like that is the case but once you zoom out and see just how many times we characterise our losses in crucial matches in this manner and compare that to how many times we have actually won stuff, versus the teams that rarely have cause to resort to this righteously aggrieved narrative because they do win stuff, then it becomes apparent that we are either thee unluckiest and most erred against team in the history of sport OR there is something else going on, much more difficult to digest and much closer to home.
