Confirmed: Talks held for £40M plus valued La Liga winner

By The Boy -

Ange Postecoglou has had a frankly remarkable first season at Spurs. Few could have imagined, after all the trials and tribulations under the last few coaches hired by the club, that the Aussie would be able to not just pour oil on our troubled waters, but look to replicate his success in lesser leagues in other countries.

Naturally, a key factor in these very early days of success has been the acquisition of one or two players that suit the news gaffers’ fast-paced, free-flowing football.

Tottenham’s creative core of James Maddison, Yves Bissouma, and Pape Sarr have been half the story and the other half has been the tightening of our back-line. Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven have made a world of difference, but that side of things is far from complete.

One name mentioned increasingly as a ‘name in the frame’ has been that of Nice’s centre back, Todibo.

Football London says that this is one deal that is already being explored.

“Spurs have a big interest in Nice’s Jean-Clair Todibo and have held talks with the Ligue 1 club about the 23-year-old. However, with the young French international widely acknowledged as one of the best young defensive prospects in Europe with top clubs across the continent and in the Premier League after him, Nice could hold out for a summer bidding war for the player…”

What is likely to influence any decision by the French side, is who they use might replace the 23-year-old. Looking at this season so far, Rosario and Mendy have both commanded spots in his spot for Nice.

It would be great if Spurs could get this deal done next month and provide us with added insurance against Romero’s ongoing discipline issues!
