Atletico Madrid are keen on acquiring the services of Giovani Lo Celso.
Lo Celso’s big-money move to Tottenham Hotspur from Real Betis hasn’t really gone according to plan. The Argentine international has failed to establish himself in the North London club’s first team and he has been subject to multiple loan moves.
While Ange Postecoglou decided to keep him at the club for the 2023/24 season, the former Betis midfielder has only featured in 19 matches and has been on the pitch for less than 600 minutes. Lo Celso is not happy with his current situation and is looking for a new opportunity to revive himself.
According to a report from Fichajes, Atletico Madrid are keen on having him in their ranks and they are ‘willing to offer’ £17 million for the services of the Argentine attacking midfielder. Things might not have worked out for him at Tottenham but Diego Simeone is still pushing for his signatures.
The Atletico Madrid manager is a huge admirer of the 28-year-old star who can feature in multiple roles in the midfield as well as in attack. Simeone feels Lo Celso could be a very useful addition to his team, as a result, he is pushing to incorporate the former Real Betis star in the side.
With his contract expiring in the summer of 2025, the upcoming transfer window could be Tottenham’s final opportunity to raise significant funds from his departure. Meanwhile, a move to Atletico Madrid will give the 28-year-old an ideal opportunity to revive his career under a manager who rates him highly and would be open to giving him chances.
