‘worth keeping an eye on…’: Journalist expects Tottenham to move for £10m midfield ace

By Saikat -

Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with a move for the Blackburn Rovers midfielder Adam Wharton.

The 19-year-old central midfielder has been a key player for the Championship club and he has been linked with a move away in recent weeks. Tottenham have been mentioned as a potential destination and journalist Dean Jones believes that the North London club could look to make a move for him in the near future.

“I do have a bit to add on that (midfield) front. Conor Gallagher is the one that is constantly talked about but no progress. A couple of deals worth keeping an eye on are Adam Wharton at Blackburn Rovers, could get him for around £10m, and given they’re looking at Nusa, I wonder if they are also tempted to go early for Wharton, but again, that would be one for the summer, and they’re also looking at Ederson at Atalanta,” Jones said on the Ranks FC Ultras Podcast.

Wharton is reportedly valued at £10 million at Tottenham certainly have the financial muscle to get the deal done. They need to add more depth and quality in the middle of the park and the 19-year-old would be a solid, long-term investment for them.

If they can help him fulfil his tremendous potential in the coming seasons, the transfer could look like a major bargain.

He has been a regular starter for Blackburn Rovers in the Championship and he has established himself as an indispensable asset for his club. However, a move to the Premier League would be a major step up in his career and the player is likely to be tempted.

A move in January seems unlikely and Tottenham will probably make their move during the summer transfer window if they are keen on signing him.

The midfielder would be a future prospect for Tottenham and working with a manager like Ange Postecoglou could help the youngster develop further and fulfil his potential. The Australian manager did well to nurture talented young players during his time at Celtic and he could play a key role in the development of the 19-year-old as well.
