Tottenham handed significant boost ahead of their FA Cup clash against Manchester City

By Mehdi Gokal -

Tottenham has received a significant boost leading up to their FA Cup clash against Manchester City.

Despite facing injury challenges this season, this time, Spurs might find themselves on the advantageous side.

Manchester City’s star, Erling Haaland, has been sidelined since December and is unlikely to return to action until early February.

The Norwegian striker has been recovering from a foot injury, causing him to miss 11 games thus far.

Pep Guardiola provided an update, mentioning that Haaland hasn’t trained this week and won’t be available for the rest of January.

Guardiola stated (via The Athletic):

“Hopefully at the end of this month he’ll be ready. It was a little bit more than we expected in the beginning.”

”It’s a bone, it needs time. Every injury you can do whatever you want but it’s a question of time.”

City have felt the absence of their goalscoring machine, who boasts an impressive record of 19 goals and 5 assists in just 22 appearances across all competitions this season.

With Haaland unavailable, Ange Postecoglou and his Spurs side might sense an opportunity heading into the fourth-round FA Cup fixture later this month.

While missing Haaland could be a significant advantage for Spurs, winning the tie against Manchester City would not only secure their spot in the next round but also boost their confidence for the second half of the season.
