What is stopping Harry Kane from signing a new contract? – Journalist gives a concerning update

By Mehdi Gokal -

Harry Kane has been linked with a move to Bayern Munich ever since the German club’s CEO Oliver Kahn and manager Julian Nagelsmann both made comments about their admiration and willingness to sign him.

Having lost their star striker Lewandowski to Barcelona, the Bundesliga club have identified Harry Kane as the player to ultimately replace him even it means waiting for it.

Nagelsmann’s remarks elicited a defiant response from Tottenham manager Antonio Conte , who claimed that Bayern’s discussion of the 29-year-old was “disrespectful.”

According to Sport Bild correspondent Christian Falk (via iMiaSanMia), Harry Kane was considering signing a new contract at Tottenham but the Bundesliga giants ‘told him to wait’.

The report stated:

Bayern want Harry Kane in 2023. The England captain is considering signing a new contract at Tottenham, but Bayern told him to wait because it’s still too early. The club is watching Kane’s situation closely and will try to sign him if he doesn’t renew.

BILD previously reported that Kane is open to a move to Bayern if the club comes calling. There were ‘already loose contacts‘ between Kane’s entourage and Bayern management a few weeks ago. Harry Kane will undoubtedly become a serious option for them next summer.

A very interesting summation but there are flaws .
Greavesie was my idol as a kid and man he was some player , but a better goal-scorer.If you look at the standard he played in though , it wasn’t great and lacked the depth required today .
This is not a dig at Jim , recreating him in my head still brings me joy but things have moved on .
And the antics he got up to , along with a hundred or more of his day , would not have got away with it in these times . Personally , I think money plays its part in any era , but I was touched by the sincerity and honesty of your words .

Kane should follow the adage ‘Once bitten…’ and leave on a free. Every year we wait for a transfer window that shows real intent.

Spurs failed to build a team around Bale and have done it with Kane. How has Levy got away with that? Levy played the media and the low-intellect fans supremely well. Bringing in Mourinho and Conte was a far better way to be cost effective and meant Levy didn’t need to spend £200m a year. The psychology is brilliant, if Spurs can’t win with 2 of the best coaches around how on earth will we win? By spending some cash on quality players might help hey? Danny Rose’s career might have ended but his comment about googling players will echo in eternity.

How can Kane take the club seriously after what he has witnessed? Seeing players like Doherty, Vinicius and Emerson rock up is not a statement of intent is it? As for becoming the PL top scorer, this means nothing for me. Shearer scored 23 more goals in the old First Division for Southampton. Look at Greaves, 357 top flight League goals. The PL is a brand and to forget the accomplishments of teams and players over a 100 year period is a travesty. Same for the European Cup being ignored for Ch Lg. All I know about the PL is it killed football as a game where money became more important than winning.

The last time he scored a decent number of goals was when he was in the Championship. That’s his level.

Other teams spent big in the last few weeks and as a result it made our window look underwhelming. It needed one big, marquee, top draw (name it what you want) signing to finish it off.

Notts Forest bought 351 players but should they really outspend us when we had so many areas to improve?

Rodon only played 15 games for us, 3 last season. At no time did I think we were more secure…….and I cannot abide Sanchez in our team.

I don’t think Bayern would be so interested in proven players if they had won the CL in the past 2 seasons. They will find the money.

Six weeks of the window was left once we signed spence, feels a wasted opportunity but probably was down to our ability to sell players

Sanchez has done ok off the ball. He’s defended, blocked and headed well… With the ball he’s a liability.

Rodon has gone mate, to Rennes on loan with an option to buy… We need Romero the destroyer of worlds back in the ranks.

Exactly. They (poch, jose, harry, us fans,) all get sold a lie, think their ambitions are being met but sooner or later realise the actual limit of Enic’s football ambition. In the meantime, a wad of money and talk of projects eases their niggling anxiety that they are being mugged off. Rinse and repeat

Every form line points to Spurs win , at the moment we are exuding self-doubt , especially the fans , waiting for the team to burst into life .
I’m sure thats not too far away — Spurs 3 0 Fulham , that should help ??

Its strange , 4 weeks ago it was generally perceived that Spurs had had a “great window” , our purchases were early , a reconstruction was underway , including our 2nd biggest purchase ever .
Our points situation is such that we have gained points from teams from which we got none last year . We are placed 3rd in the league , albeit not playing at our best , think we all know that , but there appears a quiet harmony within the squad .
I believe the fans paranoia stems largely from one source , namely the team sitting atop of the Prem right now .
Once we’ve found our stride and surpassed them things we look and feel a whole lot different and anxiety will fade .
There are only 6 sides that can hope to win this league , we are one of ’em ! C O Y S !!!!!!!!! I already feel the City / Liverpool domination has run its course , the ‘rest’ are closing in ………………..

What’s Conte going to win…honest question…City are beasts, Liverpool are good, Ars seem to be very good, Chelsea will come good and even Manu U will start drawing out games…unless we get a very lucky draw in one of the cups I see another trophy less season I’m afraid..

That was 3 years ago, pre-pandemic, the economic landscape is changing and Bayern have been knocked out in the quarter-finals of the CL the last two years. Manifestly the Bundesliga is not on a par now with the EPL playingwise, nor can it compete with it financially. The EPL spent more in this transfer window than La Liga, Serie A and the Bundesliga COMBINED!

Bored working so my preferred line up for today.
Richy Kane Kula
Peri Bent Bizzy Doherty
Lenglet Cuti
Dier

If its not working why not just change the formation 4-4-2 / 4-2-4 like we did against Cheatski we cant be dropping points at home today.

Much as I would love Harry to stay,he would be a fool to trust Levy.He needs to see tangible evidence from Levy to show he can match Harry’s ambitions.

I don’t see that happening and I don’t see Kane signing any new contract for some time, even if there is one offered.Harry has been shafted by Levy before and he should know what to expect. And get rid of his agent brother.

We have just spent a load of dosh ..how many were Conte’s choices ?
Udogie..good player for next season , Spence ( who I rate ) left with Royal and Bambi.Dr Strangelove Carry on on up the Tottenham Levy just cannot leave it alone . This is not the way Conte operates ..he has changed his ways to win nothing with us ? Please.. The onlyy plan is the next plan..

If I were Kane? I would be worried about Conte’s Comments made the other day regarding us being 3 transfer widows away from being title challengers. 31/32 before even being challengers to the title?

To have your heart set on winning trophies AND be good enough to win them? I certainly wouldn’t be rushing into any decisions either. I don’t blame Kane one bit to at least wait until after the world cup to see how the rest of the team were performing before signing anything!

I don’t remember anyone in a Spurs shirt showing any desire to win the game apart from Kane, and that TOO would be a concern!

What’s is all this garbage in the Independent ..Conte banging on about how reliable Bambi Sessegnon is..One minute Conte his bemoaning the transfer window and the next minute he is feeding the intellectual wing of our fan base a load of old nonsense about Watership Down’s only professional footballer why was Peresic picked v West Ham ..I’m guessing Peresic will be rested v Fulham.
The amount of rubbish coaches are obliged to trot out to satisfy the fukwittery of modern journalists is proper rubber room madness.
Ryan may turn up for training etc on time but much to my regret he has learned precisely nothing in 3 years ..oh yeah he is young ..Worse still his defending frequently drags Davies way out of position ..
This may read as somewhat glum .but Conte is a wingback man…have we got any quality wingbacks ..Peresic and I reckon Spence is / will be decent, well better than Royal.
None of this smells good.

Utter garbage. Kane is NOT an option for Bayern Munich, it is delusional self-aggrandisement from a club that has slipped down the European financial pecking order. Kane has only one target in mind, to break Alan Shearer’s EPL record, he is not going to Bayern, not now, not ever. English youngsters move to Germany to develop, they then move to a bigger, better, higher profile league in the EPL, if they make the grade in the Bundesliga. Lewandowski realised the truth and left, Bayern just can’t handle the truth! As for why Kane hasn’t signed a new contract? There is no proof he has recently been offered one to sign.

If I were Kane, I wouldn’t extend the contract until I had proof that ENIC will back Conte to the hilt, i.e., quality transfer activity in the winter window and next summer (maybe even the winter window of 2024, by which time he’d be able to sign a pre-contract with someone, which he could leverage against Levy). Afterwards, I would evaluate if Levy is being serious or joking around as always, and then I would either commit to Spurs or tell Levy “f- off” and go pick up a couple of easy trophies at Bayern.

He’s 30 next year, I believe, so extending his deal would leave him here until the twilight of his career. Not a step he should be taking lightly.

Fortunately, keeping him here is very easy. Just back Conte with what he wants and you keep Conte and Kane. Surely that’s motivation enough to stop with the penny pinching and signing punts?
