” Went absolutely ballistic” – Gold reveals Ryan Mason was fuming after what happened during the Crystal Palace game

By Mehdi Gokal -

Tottenham expert Alasdair Gold has revealed that interim manager Ryan Mason was left fuming at his staff.

Spurs got back to winning ways securing a crucial 1-0 over Crystal Palace, ending their winless streak. Harry Kane scored the only goal of the game, heading in a cross from Pedro Porro right before the half-time break.

It was Kane’s 26th goal in the league this season and if it was not for the goal scoring machine Erling Haaland, Kane would have been leading the race to win yet another golden boot.

It was also a record-breaking goal that saw him surpass Wayne Rooney and become the second-highest scorer in the league’s history.

However, there was a moment in the game that saw Ryan Mason go ‘absolutely ballistic’ as reported by Alasdair Gold.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Gold spoke about the manager’s anger when saw yet another player pick up an injury.

He said (1:07):

“Mason went absolutely ballistic at the physios bringing Lenglet off because in his head, he’s thinking: ‘Well, we cannot be a centre-back down at this point. We can’t do that’.”

“But yeah, he was furious and then Lenglet – it was interesting as Lenglet – was furious as well. I’m not entirely sure why. I don’t know whether he thought Mason was shouting at him for coming off, or whether he was just really annoyed he had to come off because he didn’t think he was that injured. I don’t know.

“But certainly he wasn’t moving his arm and they went straight down the tunnel. Which essentially to show with the physios that took him down there as if it was serious enough they needed that.”

Tottenham have had the worst of lucks with injuries this season with a number of key players picking up long-term injuries including, Rodrigo Bentancur, Yves Bissouma, Ryan Sessegnon and Hugo Lloris.

It remains to be seen whether Lenglet will recover in time ahead of the crucial match against Aston Villa.
