“We will consider it” – Agent refuses to rule out a January move amid strong links with Spurs

Tottenham Hotspur’s search for a centre-back continues ahead of the January transfer window.

One of the names being linked a lot is Romanian defender Radu Dragusin, a 21-year-old centre-back currently playing for Italian club Genoa.

The agent of the player, Florin Manea, recently admitted that Tottenham are interested in signing his client, confirming that there have been discussions with the North London club over the potential move.

Meanwhile, another report from Italian outlet Il Secolo XIX claimed that the interest from Spurs is ‘increasingly strong’ and that they would be ‘ready to offer’ over €30m for his services in January.

However, conflicting statements have emerged regarding Dragusin’s future at Genoa. While Genoa’s director, Ottolini, hinted at a potential contract extension for the defender as reported by the renowned journalist Fabrizio Romano, the player’s agent has come out and refuted the claims.

He claimed that there is no agreement regarding a new extension and refused to rule out a January move:

Manea emphasised that no concrete offer currently exists and highlighted Dragusin’s contract until 2026, leaving the decision regarding his future open for evaluation.

He said (via Last Word On Spurs):

“There are many rumors, a lot of articles that appear. There is currently no concrete, black-and-white written offer. We are in no rush to leave. Radu Dragusin has a contract until the summer of 2026.

“For now we are evaluating, we are not making a decision now related to the extension of the contract with Genoa.

“I think that the statement of the official from Genoa is taken wrongly, there is no extension agreement. If we sign the extension, we will only do it for one more year, until 2027. We are in no rush to make a decision.

We will see what happens in this transfer window. If an important offer comes, we will consider it.”

Despite the potential contract extension at Genoa, Dragusin’s camp remains open to considering significant offers.

Dragusin has established himself as one of the highly rated defenders in the Italian League during his 59 appearances for them.
