‘we hope…’: Tottenham signing’s mother reacts to the lack of game time so far

By Saikat -

Tottenham Hotspur signed Radu Dragusin from Genoa during the January transfer window.

The 22-year-old is still struggling for regular game time at the North London club, and he will be hoping to establish himself as a regular starter in the coming months. The Romanian defender is highly rated across Europe and he has a bright future ahead of him.

He will need some time to adapt to English football and get used to Tottenham’s style of play. There is no doubt that he could be a key player for the North London club in the coming seasons and the player will have to be patient for his opportunity.

Dragusin’s mother has now reacted to the lack of game time at his new club and revealed that the defender will have to be patient for his chance. She added that Spurs have been very welcoming towards the player and he is feeling good in his new surroundings.

She said via Orange Sport.: “I wish he was here (at the gala), but he has training and is waiting for his turn at Tottenham. Italy is a very beautiful country, but England is also very welcoming. We feel good. Radu has his job there and we hope he’ll settle in.

“What we all have to understand is that Radu is a young footballer in a great team and we have to be patient. It helps him a lot that he comes from an athletic family, but education has been the main pillar in our life.”

Dragusin has played a total of eight minutes in the league so far and he will be hoping to play more often in the coming weeks. It remains to be seen whether he can impress in training and convince Ange Postecoglou to give him a regular run out in the Premier League.

Tottenham are looking to ease him into the side and he is clearly a long-term prospect for them. However, regular starts at the North London club might be hard to come by unless Spurs switch to a back three. Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven are undoubtedly the first-choice central defenders at Tottenham and Dragusin will only get to start regularly if Tottenham decide to operate in a three-defender formation.
