West Ham United striker Michail Antonio has revealed that the Hammers players do not like Tottenham.
He has shed light on the rivalry between the two clubs and revealed that the hatred towards Tottenham stems from the fans of both clubs. Antonio explained that the West Ham fans do not like Tottenham and therefore the feeling is mutually shared by the players as well.
The two London clubs share a bitter rivalry and it is hardly a surprise that Antonio and his teammates are not fond of the north London giants.
The West Ham star also revealed that the Hammers want to beat Tottenham every time they face the north London outfit.
“We don’t like Tottenham,” Antonio reveald on a YouTube channel. “Obviously it’s based more on the fans, because the fans don’t like them, we don’t like them.
“It’s got to that stage where we want to beat them for the fans and the rivalry is big for the fans, so the rivalry is big for us.”
The experienced striker will probably be disappointed with his team’s performance against Tottenham this season.
Spurs have beaten West Ham twice across all competitions this season and the two teams managed to play out a draw in their third meeting of the season.
It has been a disappointing campaign for both teams and they will be looking to bounce back strongly next season.
West Ham managed to secure Premier League safety after flirting with relegation for the majority of the campaign.
On the other hand, Tottenham have missed out on UEFA Champions League qualification, and they find themselves without a permanent manager or a sporting director in place.
Both clubs are currently going through a phase of uncertainty and it remains to be seen whether they can get things back on track before the start of the new season.
