Ronald Araujo gave them the lead with 4 minutes before half-time.
And Liverpool striker Darwin Nunez sealed the win in the 87th minute with a brilliant finish on the counter.
But it was a crucial tackle from Tottenham midfielder Rodrigo Bentancur on Messi which started the break.

Bentancur looks to be slowly getting back to fitness after the long layoff from injury which kept him on the sidelines for almost 9 months.
His return to his best form will significantly bolster the team, offering vital midfield depth for manager Ange.
At the moment Sarr starts alongside Bissouma and the partnership has fared well so far. But a fully fit Bentancur next to Bissouma could potentially form a formidable midfield partnership.
