One-nil down and Spurs counterattacked like demons thanks to Erik Lamela’s true grit. The ball eventually was laid on perfectly for Harry Kane who smacked the ball, curling wide of the West Ham goal. The question that needs asking is how we can see more actions like this, potential game-changing moments?
Perhaps the first priority is to get our defence kicked into better shape, I cannot recall so many sequences of tedious passing between two players as witnessed between Dier and Sanchez.
🎼 always bring lamela with you.
The pass that wasn’t played was to Son but he’d need eyes in the back of his head for it.
Lamela is made from the right stuff character-wise, that’s for sure. He’s what my old man would call a 90+ minutes player. Unfortunately though, for a player at his level of development, his decision making just isn’t up to scratch. He tends to hold on to the ball for too long, making the wrong pass more often than not, if not losing possession. He also picks up too many bookings. He’s probably another that’s been there far too long.
Lamela tries to make things happen. We have a few too many players not willing to take it to the opposition at the moment.
