Vicario made a brutal betting related jibe at Ivan Toney after the win against Brentford

By Mehdi Gokal -

Guglielmo Vicario once again managed to become one of the talking points of the game following the win against Brentford.

Tottenham Hotspur made an impressive comeback from a half-time deficit to secure a 3-2 win against The Bees.

Despite conceding an early goal when Neal Maupay seized the rebound from Guglielmo Vicario’s save, Spurs regrouped in the second half.

Spurs came out in the second half with full force. Destiny Udogie who was at mistake for the goal conceded, equalised by slotting home Timo Werner’s cutback at the 48-minute mark, and a minute later, Brennan Johnson tapped the ball into the back of the net from a Werner assist.

Richarlison added a third goal, solidifying Tottenham’s lead. And although Ivan Toney scored for Brentford to make it 3-2, Spurs managed to hold on to their lead and clinch the win.

The match saw the Spurs’ goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario have an eventful outing, making three saves but conceding two goals, with one coming from a rebound.

However, what caught the attention of the fans was not just Vicario’s performance, but his post-game comments.

Vicario appeared to have exchanged words with Ivan Toney after the game. Toney has just returned from an 8-month ban after being found guilty of breaking betting rules.

The Italian shot-stopper revealed his brutal jibe at Toney after the game. He stated:

“He was talking to me a lot during the match. When it was over, I just told him I hope he didn’t bet on that result.”

This wasn’t the first time Vicario had a confrontation with another player. Following Tottenham’s 4-1 victory over Newcastle in December, Vicario had a clash with Magpies striker Callum Wilson.

Wilson labelled the incident post-match as a ‘lack of respect’ by Vicario, prompting the 27-year-old to respond on social media, stating, ‘Respect is given to everyone that respects me.’
