UCL winning manager eyed as Conte replacement is a Spurs fan

Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with a number of managers in recent weeks and former Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel is reportedly an option for them.

Apparently, the 49-year-old German manager is a boyhood Tottenham fan.

Back in 2016, he said to the Guardian: “As a little kid in my garden I liked the name Tottenham Hotspur.

“For me to play them in two legs was very special. There are so many friendly people around the club. We deserved to win and it means a lot to me to be the first German team to win here.”

The German is currently out of work since his sacking from Chelsea in September. Tuchel has proven his quality at Borussia Dortmund and Paris Saint-Germain in the past. Sky Sports claim that he is on Tottenham’s radar.

There is no doubt that the 49-year-old is an accomplished manager and he could prove to be a quality acquisition for Tottenham if Antonio Conte ends up leaving the club.

The 53-year-old Italian manager will be out of contract in the summer and Tottenham have not managed to convince him to sign an extension.

Although the London club have the option to trigger a one-year extension in the Italian’s contract, he has been linked with the return to Italy in the summer.

Tuchel has proven himself in the Premier League with Chelsea and he helped them win the UEFA Champions League trophy.

A proven winner like him could excite the Tottenham fans and it remains to be seen how the situation develops.

Tottenham have been linked with former manager Mauricio Pochettino as well who is also out of a job since leaving Paris Saint-Germain. Pochettino did an excellent job at Spurs before he was relieved of his duties and the fans would certainly welcome a return in the summer.
