Transfer insider claims he can not rule out a potential Spurs move for 24-year-old – he is ‘recommended by Paratici’

Tottenham Hotspur’s quest for a midfielder persists as the club begins to contemplate another potential target.

Spurs have been pursuing Chelsea’s Conor Gallagher since last summer, but due to the challenges in securing the Englishman, they have initiated a search for alternatives.

Transfer insider Dean Jones suggests that Spurs might consider making a move for Atalanta’s midfielder Ederson.

Speaking to GiveMeSport, Dean Jones mentioned that the 24-year-old is not Tottenham’s first-choice option but is not an alternative to Gallagher either.

Jones highlighted that Ederson might not possess the same energy and stylistic fit as Gallagher, particularly in the role of a No. 8 in the Spurs team.

However, he claimed that the midfielder could be recommended by the club’s former managing director, Fabio Paratici, making him a plausible target.

Jones stated:

“It’s difficult to know how quickly Ederson would integrate into Premier League life, so I struggle to see Ederson as an alternative to Gallagher because, from what I am told, he’s not got the same energy and is not the stylistic fit of a No. 8 that Gallagher would be in this Spurs team.

Of course, it could well be that he has been recommended by Paratici, though, and we know he’s continuing to consult. That factor means I can’t totally rule him out as a target.”

The current midfield options at Ange Postecoglou’s disposal are limited at the moment. Players like Pape Matar Sarr and Yves Bissouma are anticipated to be unavailable until the second week of February due to their involvement with their national teams in AFCON.

Meanwhile, Argentine midfielder Giovani Lo Celso picked up a muscle issue in the FA Cup victory over Burnley earlier this month and James Maddison is yet to return from his ankle injury.

Ederson has been a significant figure in Atalanta’s squad, starting in 19 games during the current Italian top-flight campaign, contributing five goals and one assist.

Paratici’s recommendation adds an additional layer of consideration, given his successful track record with past signings.
