Transfer expert reveals Spurs were offered striker with 28 goals and 26 assists late in the window

According to transfer expert Graeme Bailey, speaking on the Talking Transfers Podcast, Tottenham were offered the chance to sign former Celtic star Jota.

Jota, a 24-year-old winger, recently signed a lucrative deal worth £200,000 per week with Al-Ittihad. However, it appears that his new club are already to looking to get rid of him and are keen to send him out on loan.

While discussing Tottenham’s transfer options on the podcast, Bailey mentioned that Jota was offered to the club.

He said:

“He’s a great signing I think myself. It’s clear that Ange wanted this type of player and they were offered Jota as well who might be coming back from Saudi Arabia sometime soon. I think Johnson is an incredible player who will become a firm fan favourite there.”

Tottenham were linked with a number of strikers since Kane’s big money move to Bayern Munich including Johnson, Jonathan David, Gift Orban, Romelu Lukaku, Ansu Fati and Ivan Toney

They ended up signing Nottingham Forest striker Brennan Johnson on deadline day in a deal worth £47m.

It has been reported that the Welsh striker has been the priority for the manager who has been wanting to sign the player for a long time and turned down multiple players offered to him in favour of him including Barcelona star boy Ansu Fati.

His signing adds to Tottenham’s attacking options, with the likes of Son Heung-min, Richarlison, Dejan Kulusevski, and Manor Solomon also available to the manager.

It was Son who started upfront against Burnley and produced a man of the match performance scoring a hat-trick to win 5-2.

TBH Says:

Jota is an incredible striker who has 28 goals and 26 assists in 83 appearances for Celtic.

He would have been a great signing as well but the gaffer wanted a particular style of attacker and he got who he wanted.
