Tottenham will have to fork out over €40 million to acquire the services of Riccardo Calafiori.
Calafiori has attracted a lot of interest on the back of his impressive performances for Bologna during the 2023/24 season. He was one of the standout performers and played a big part in helping them qualify for the Champions League.
Tottenham are one of the clubs who have been linked with the Italian defensive sensation and according to a report from Calciomercato, the North London club will have to spend more than €40 million to sign Calafiori in the summer.
Despite having signed two central defenders over the last two transfer windows, Spurs are still expected to push for another centre-back ahead of next season. Ange Postecoglou feels the need to have more depth at the back and signing Calafiori could do wonders for them in the short as well as long run.
But, they won’t find it easy to sign the 22-year-old as Bologna have no intentions of letting him leave on the cheap. They will most likely lose out on Joshua Zirkzee and only an important offer can lead to Calafiori’s departure.
While the Italian outfit had signed him for €3 million last summer, they have promised 50% of his future sales to FC Basel which is why if they are forced to sell him, they will let him join the highest bidder and the fee will have to be in excess of €40 million.
Spurs are keen on his signature but since the player prefers reuniting with Thiago Motta at Juventus, the North London club have an uphill task to sign him. But, Tottenham’s financial strength is what keeps them in the mix.
