‘Levy will back him’: Postecoglou likely to have an eventful transfer window with Spurs

By Saikat -

Ange Postecoglou will have Daniel Levy’s backing in the transfer market after an impressive start at Tottenham Hotspur.

Spurs are currently fifth in the Premier League and they are level on points with fourth-placed Aston Villa. They have every chance of qualifying for the Champions League. And, on the back of an impressive start to life at Tottenham, Postecoglou will be backed by chairman Daniel Levy according to former Everton chief Keith Wyness.

The 66-year-old who served as CEO at Goodison Park back in the day suggested that Spurs are very close to the top and they could start a recruitment drive in the summer to give the Australian manager enough firepower to compete with the very best.

Former Spurs managers Mauricio Pochettino and Antonio Conte have spoken publicly about the lack of backing in the transfer market but Wyness believes Levy has taken a u-turn and he will back Postecoglou all the way.

Wyness revealed to Football Insider: “Ange has got the fans’ backing now. I think if he tells the board he wants a player, he is now in a position where he will get them. There’s been Conte, and Pochettino at Spurs – but they haven’t got what they wanted. But now with Postecoglou, I think Levy will back him. They’re not that far away.”

Wyness feels Tottenham already have a lot of quality in their squad and a few more additions in the summer could help them get to the top.

Postecoglou made as many as nine signings last summer after arriving at the club. He added two signings in the winter as Spurs were one of the few clubs that were active in January. He seems to have the backing of Levy and things are only going to get better as the Spurs chairman is all set to back the former Celtic manager this summer as well.
