Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing the Bologna defender Riccardo Calafiori.
The 21-year-old has established himself as one of the finest young defenders in the Italian league and a report from Tuttosport claims that he is ‘in the sights’ of Premier League club Tottenham. They will face competition from Italian outfit Juventus in the summer.
The defender is valued at €25 million by Transfermarkt and it will be interesting to see if Tottenham come forward with an offer to sign him. It is no secret that they need to sign another central defender and manager Ange Postecoglou has himself admitted the need to add more depth to the defensive unit.
Calafiori could develop into a key player for Spurs with the right guidance and he has the attributes to succeed in the Premier League. The left-footed central defender is versatile enough to operate as a left back as well as a wing back. His versatility will be an added bonus.
The defender has a contract with the Italian club until the summer of 2027 and Bologna could easily demand a premium for him. It will be interesting to see if Tottenham are prepared to break the bank for him.
