Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing the Uruguayan International defender Maxi Araujo at the end of the season.

According to a report from mediafoot, Destiny Udogie is expected to leave the club in the summer and return to Italy. Tottenham want to replace him with a quality player, and the 26-year-old Sporting CP star has emerged on their radar.

Maxi Araujo to replace Udogie at Spurs?

Araujo has done quite well this season with six goals and four assists in all competitions. He can operate as a left-back as well as a left-winger. His ability to contribute at both ends of the pitch makes him an attractive option for the North London club. The report claims that Tottenham are engaged in a behind-the-scenes battle to secure the services of the 26-year-old defender. He will cost around €80 million due to the release clause in his contract, and it remains to be seen whether Tottenham is prepared to pay that much for him.

Araujo is a player in demand

Chelsea and Manchester United are also interested in the 26-year-old full-back. The defender will be attracted to the idea of moving to the Premier League. Tottenham have an ambitious project and an exciting team. Even though they are struggling in the Premier League this season, they could easily bounce back next year with a few intelligent additions. It will be interesting to see if Tottenham can get the deal done.

Udogie has been inconsistent, and it is no surprise that Tottenham are prepared to get rid of him. It will be interesting to see if they can sell the player and replace him properly in the summer.

Araujo is at the peak of his career, and this is the right time for him to take the next step and join a bigger club. The move to England would be ideal for him.
