Tottenham Hotspur are looking to improve their defensive unit in the coming months, and they have identified Marc Guehi as a target.

The 24-year-old England international has been outstanding for club and country in recent seasons, and there is no doubt that he deserves to play for a bigger club. He has been labelled as “exceptional”.

A move to Tottenham could be ideal for him. They need more quality and depth in the defensive unit, and Cristian Romero has been linked with an exit as well.

Tottenham will need to replace the South American defender in the summer, and Guehi could prove to be the ideal acquisition. He is well settled in the Premier League, and he could make an instant impact at the North London club. The 24-year-old is entering the peak years of his career, and he will want to compete at a high level.

It has been a disappointing season for Tottenham, and they could miss out on qualification for the next season. It will be interesting to see if they can convince top players to join them despite that.

With that said, they do have the opportunity to secure Champions League qualification if they can win the UEFA Europa League. They have made it to the semifinals of the tournament.

Tottenham are not the only club keen on the Crystal Palace defender, and they will face competition from Chelsea and Newcastle United, as per Fabrizio Romano. All three clubs have the financial muscle to get the deal across the line, and it remains to be seen how the situation develops.

Romano has confirmed that the player has been on the radar of the aforementioned clubs for months.

The defender has a contract with the Eagles until 2026, and he is unlikely to sign an extension. If he fails to secure an exit this summer, he will leave them on a free transfer for next year.
