Tottenham are preparing to finalise a centre-forward signing ahead of the upcoming transfer window.
Spurs have been linked with several strikers including Ivan Toney, Dominic Solanke, and Alexander Isak. The latest to be linked with a move is Sevilla’s Youssef En-Nesyri.
Former Tottenham goalkeeper Paul Robinson believes that the Moroccan international would excel under Ange Postecoglou if the Lilywhites manage to secure his services this summer.
It was recently claimed that Spurs have been in advanced talks to sign En-Nesyri, who is in the final year of his contract with Sevilla, set to expire next June.
The 27-year-old had an outstanding season with Sevilla, scoring 20 goals in 41 appearances across all competitions.
Spurs view Sevilla’s financial difficulties as an opportunity to strengthen their attack, specially following Harry Kane’s departure to Bayern Munich last summer.
Speaking to Tottenham News, Paul Robinson highlighted En-Nesyri’s potential ability to thrive in the Premier League under Postecoglou’s attacking philosophy.
Robinson noted the striker’s proven track record at both the international level and in La Liga, emphasising his knack for making intelligent runs and consistent goal-scoring prowess.
The former England international believes En-Nesyri’s style aligns with Postecoglou’s
preference for aggressive football and predicts that he will flourish in the Premier League.
Robinson said:
“He’s a good player – I like him. He’s played at the top level, scored goals, and proven himself at international level and in La Liga. He’s led the line well for Sevilla and plays the way that Ange Postecoglou wants to play – on the front foot and will put in the hard yards.
“He’ll flourish in the Premier League. It’s the type of league that he will enjoy, he’ll score goals, and he’s a player that I like. He makes very good runs, he’s intelligent, and he’s of an age now where he’s scoring goals regularly and has proven himself at the top level.”
En-Nesyri is also on Manchester United’s radar, but Sevilla appears to prefer a deal with Tottenham, partly due to their interest in Spurs’ Bryan Gil.
This mutual interest could pave the way for a potential swap deal, benefiting both clubs in their transfer ambitions.
As the Lilywhites prepare for the summer transfer window, securing a versatile and prolific striker like En-Nesyri could be a pivotal move.
