Tottenham tracking 27-year-old ace, manager doesn’t ‘care much’ if he leaves

By Saikat -

Tottenham has been linked with a move for the Real Madrid midfielder Marco Asensio.

According to a report from Football Insider, Tottenham are currently tracking the 27-year-old’s situation at Real Madrid and they could make a move for him at the end of the season.
The Spanish international will be out of contract in the summer and Real Madrid have not managed to extend his deal yet.
Recently manager Carlo Ancelotti he confirmed that he doesn’t care about the player’s situation.

Ancelotti said: “He looks good to me, so I don’t know if he stays or not. Maybe he does, maybe he doesn’t. I don’t care much. We have some important challenges this season. The most important thing is that he contributes like last year.

“Let him continue as he is doing now. Then the club makes the most appropriate decision in the end.”

It seems that the Spanish giants are willing to let the player leave and it remains to be seen whether Tottenham can secure the services of the Champions League winner on a free transfer.
The Londoners could certainly use more creativity and technicality in the middle of the park and Asensio would be a superb acquisition. The 27-year-old can operate in the wide areas as well and his versatility will be an added bonus.
The player has started just 6 games in the league this season and he needs to play more often in order to fulfil his potential. The midfielder has 6 goals and 4 assists to his name across all competitions this season and his arrival will certainly benefit the likes of Harry Kane. The Spaniard would help create opportunities for his teammates and the likes of Kane will certainly thrive on the service.
Meanwhile, the report from Football Insider claims that Arsenal and Manchester United are keen on the player as well.
The Gunners have been overly reliant on Martin Odegaard for creativity in the final third. They need to add more depth to their side and Asensio could be an exciting option to have.
Meanwhile, the Gunners are well-placed to win the Premier League title this season and Champions League qualification seems like a formality for them as well. They will probably be in a better position to sign the player compared to Spurs who are struggling to break into the top four.
