Tottenham Hotspur are keen on signing the Crystal Palace defender Tyrick Mitchell at the end of the season.

According to a report from TBR Football, Tottenham are huge admirers of the 25-year-old full-back, and they are determined to push through a move for him in the summer.

The report claims that Crystal Palace have already identified a replacement for Mitchell, and they could bring in the former Tottenham defender Dennis Cirkin, who has done quite well for Sunderland this season.

Mitchell is capable of operating as a left-back as well as a wing-back. He can operate further up the pitch. His versatility could be an added bonus for Tottenham if they can get the deal done. They need more depth in the left-back department, and the 25-year-old is a proven performer in the Premier League. He could improve Tottenham at both ends of the pitch.

The 25-year-old has five assists to his name this season, and he will be out of contract in the summer.

Signing a player of his quality and experience or a free transfer would be a masterstroke from Tottenham. It remains to be seen whether they can get the deal done.

It is fair to assume that they will not be the only club keen on the Crystal Palace star, and Spurs will have to compete with multiple clubs for him. They should look to move swiftly in order to get the deal done.

It has been a disappointing season for Tottenham, and they will look to improve the squad in the summer. They will be desperate to bounce back strongly. A club of their stature should be fighting for trophies regularly and competing in the Champions League.

It remains to be seen whether they can plug the gaps in their squad during the summer transfer window and come back strongly next season.
