Tottenham to compete with top-four rivals for 21-year-old PL prodigy

By Saikat -

Tottenham Hotspur continue to be linked with a move for the Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite.

A report from Daily Mail claims that the 21-year-old has attracted the attention of Tottenham Hotspur but they will face competition from Manchester United and Real Madrid.

Branthwaite has been outstanding for the Merseyside outfit this season and his performances have earned him a new contract at Everton. He is expected to be a key member of Gareth Southgate’s England squad for the upcoming European Championships as well.

The 21-year-old has all the tools to develop into a top-class Premier League defender and it is hardly a surprise that Tottenham are keen on him. The north London outfit need to sign a quality central defender to support the likes of Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven.

The Everton defender is well settled in the Premier League and he could make an immediate impact at Tottenham if he joins the club in the coming months. A January exit seems highly unlikely and any move might have to wait until the summer transfer window.

The Toffees are currently fighting for their place in the Premier League next season and they will not want to sell a key player in January.

A move to Tottenham would certainly be a step up for the talented young defender and he will be able to compete for trophies with a move to the north London club.

Tottenham have been linked with the number of central defenders this month and it remains to be seen whether they can sign someone before the window closes.
