Tottenham are reportedly pursuing PSV Eindhoven’s standout midfielder Malik Tillman as they look to bolster their squad.

However, according to former scout Bryan King, Spurs may need to offload an existing midfielder to facilitate the move, with Pape Matar Sarr potentially being the one to make way.

Tillman, who joined PSV permanently this year after a successful loan spell, has emerged as a key player for the Dutch club.

Known for his creativity, versatility, and consistent performances, the American international has attracted attention from top European clubs.

This season, the 21-year-old has been in scintillating form, contributing six goals and four assists in 18 appearances across all competitions. Across all levels and competitions in his career so far, he has already scored 69 goals and assisted another 49 in 211 games. (Transfermarkt)

His ability to perform in both domestic and European matches highlights his potential as a game-changer for a club like Tottenham.

At a reported price of £30 million, Tillman represents an attractive option for Spurs, with King describing the deal as a “rare opportunity.”

Tottenham may have to sell Pape Matar Sarr to make space for Tillman

For Tottenham to accommodate Tillman, they may need to trim their existing midfield lineup.

While Yves Bissouma has been considered, King believes Pape Matar Sarr is the more likely candidate to be sold.

Sarr has shown promise since joining Spurs, and played a big role in Ange’s side last season, establishing himself as a first-team starter.

Speaking to Tottenham News, King said:

“Players of Tillman’s quality don’t come around at that price very often.

“He has been part of a very successful PSV team over the past two seasons. However, I’d imagine if Spurs were going to bring in this type of player, they’d need to get rid of somebody.

“Therefore, they would have to look to sell at least one of the midfield players. I think it would either be Yves Bissouma or perhaps Sarr who are made available.”

Developed in Bayern Munich’s renowned academy, Tillman first caught attention during a loan spell with Rangers, where he won the PFA Scotland Young Player of the Year award.

His subsequent permanent move to PSV has elevated his career further, with impressive performances in the Eredivisie and Champions League cementing his reputation as a rising talent.
