Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly keen on signing the Porto winger Pepe this summer.
According to a report from Portuguese publication A Bola (h/t SportWitness), Tottenham will compete with Paris Saint-Germain for the 26-year-old Brazilian winger. Apparently, Spurs have already tabled an offer.
Apparently, the player has a €75 million release clause in his contract and it remains to be seen whether Porto are prepared to sell him for a more reasonable price. His suitors are unlikely to fork out that amount of money for him anytime soon.
The 26-year-old Brazilian is capable of playing on either flank and he has been a key player for Porto this season.
Pepe has 5 goals and 10 assists to his name across all competitions and he could prove to be a useful acquisition for Tottenham for the right price. It is no secret that Spurs need to add more depth to their attack and Pepe will chip in with goals and assists. His versatility will also be an added bonus.
The Brazilian is at the peak of his powers and he will look to make his mark in the Premier League if the transfer goes through. The opportunity to play for the London club could be hard to turn down for the player and he is likely to be tempted if there is a concrete proposal on the table.
It will be interesting to see if Tottenham can fend off the competition from PSG now.
Pepe could compete with Richarlison and Dejan Kulusevski for a starting spot at Spurs and the competition for places will help the squad improve.
