Tottenham are looking to reinforce their defence by acquiring the services of Riccardo Calafiori.
Things might not have worked out for Calafiori at AS Roma but the move to FC Basel allowed him to showcase his potential. His performances for the Swiss club resulted in a move to Bologna ahead of the 2023/24 season.
Since joining Thiago Motta’s team, the Italian youth international has featured in 33 games and has contributed towards seven goals. His exceptional performances and huge potential have put him on the radar of Tottenham. According to a report by TuttoJuve, they ‘like the player a lot’ and are gearing up to make a move for his services.
Ange Postecoglou’s team are looking to reinforce their squad ahead of next season. They are looking to bolster multiple areas on the pitch and signing a new defender is one of their priorities. Despite having forked out a significant fee to add two centre-backs over the last two windows, the Australian manager is keen on adding another defender to the mix.
Calafiori has put himself on the radar of the North London club on the back of his impressive performances. His ability to feature as a centre-back as well as left-back is what makes him a great option for Spurs. While they do like him a lot, signing him won’t be easy.
Bologna will have to pay 40% of the future sale value to FC Basel and they value him at around €20 million and €25 million. But, they could look for a fee of around €30 million to keep hold of their star. While the asking price might not be a problem for Spurs, the player has a desire to continue in Italy even if he does switch clubs which makes things difficult for the North London club.
