Tottenham have once again been linked with a move for Barcelona attacker Ansu Fati.
The club came close to signing him last summer, after being offered the chance to sign him and even had a chat with Ange Postecoglou.
Balague suggested that Spurs were initially the favorites to sign the young talent, and a deal was reportedly on the brink of completion.
According to Balague, Brighton manager Roberto de Zerbi’s persuasive skills played a crucial role in convincing Fati to join the south coast club.
But his move to Brighton did not live up to the high expectations raising doubts about his ability to adapt to the English game. He made 27 appearances for the Seagulls, scoring 4 and assisting 1 across all competitions.
Spurs have now once again been presented with an opportunity to sign him. Fati has found game time limited under Barcelona manager Hansi Flick, with just eight appearances this season.
The Catalan club is reportedly open to parting ways with the player, creating an opportunity for Spurs to make their move.
Tottenham submit bid to sign Ansu Fati on loan

According to the latest from Spanish outlet Fichajes, Barcelona are keen on offloading Fati, in order to create space for Marcus Rashford whome they have already agreed personal terms with. They want to offload some wages in order to financially afford Rashford’s signature.
The same report claims that Spurs have now submitted a loan bid to sign the 22-year-old, with an option to make the deal permanent at the end of the season.
Ansu Fati, who is also linked with a move to West Ham, has emerged as one of Europe’s most exciting young talents after breaking into Barcelona’s first team from their famed La Masia academy.
In 2019, he became the club’s youngest-ever goalscorer at just 16 years old and later set records in both La Liga and the UEFA Champions League. In 120 games across all competitions for the Barcelona first-team, he scored 29 goals and assisted 9. (Transfermarkt)
Tottenham are in desperate need of attacking reinforcements due the injury crisis at the club. Having failed to sign Randal Kolo Muani, they now appear to turn attention to Ansu Fati. It remains to be seen whether they will be able to successfully secure his signing before the trasnfer window shuts.
