Tottenham Hotspur are looking to strengthen the defensive unit by signing AS Roma defender Evan Ndicka in the summer.

They have been quite poor defensively, and they need to improve in that area. In addition, key players such as Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven have been linked to exits from the club. They might need to replace a key player at the back, and a move for the Ivorian could be interesting.

Evan Ndicka could improve Spurs

The 26-year-old has shown his quality in Italy, and there is no doubt he has the ability to succeed in the Premier League as well. He has the physicality for English football, and he could make an immediate impact at Tottenham. According to a report from CaughtOffside, Tottenham is showing “strong interest” in the player, and he will cost €45 million in the summer.

If they sell a player like Romero, they should be able to afford the African without any problems.

Can Spurs convince Ndicka?

However, they will face competition from clubs like Manchester United, Liverpool and Barcelona. It will be interesting to see if they can win the race for his signature. The defender could be attracted to the idea of competing at the highest level, and moving to the Premier League will be hard to turn down.

However, he might prefer to join a club where he can compete for major trophies. Tottenham is fighting for survival in the Premier League, and it remains to be seen whether they can convince the player regarding their ambitions.

It remains to be seen whether Tottenham can secure Premier League safety and convince top players to join them in the summer.
