Tottenham are interested in the services of Alessandro Buongiorno as they look to reinforce their defence.
The North London club want to add more depth and quality to their back line as they look to compete with the best clubs in the country.
Ange Postecoglou might have had an impressive first season at the club but the Australian is not satisfied, he wants to take the next step and is looking to make the necessary changes to his squad in the summer in order for that to happen.
While the plan is to reinforce multiple areas on the pitch, the defence is going to be one of the priorities for the former Celtic boss. Spurs have been on the lookout for a quality central defender and they seem to have found one in Alessandro Buongiorno.
According to a report from Calciomercato, the North London club have a ‘strong interest’ in the Italian international and they could make a move for him in the summer.
Since arriving at the club, Postecoglou has already added Micky van de Ven and Radu Dragusin to his defence. But, he feels they need more depth. Dragusin is a player who will help them in the long run and they are looking for someone who can cover for their first-choice pairing of Van de Ven and Cristian Romero.
Buongiorno has had an impressive rise at Torino and is a top target for the club. He has established himself as a mainstay in the Italian club and the 24-year-old’s consistent performances have put him on the radar of Tottenham.
On the back of an exceptional season in the heart of the defence, the Turin-based club have raised their asking price to £35 million.
Spurs surely have the capability to fork out that kind of fee for the Italian international but with interest in him from elsewhere, it will be interesting to see if they do end up winning the race for his signature.
