Tottenham star brutally slammed for ‘braindead’ moment during 4-2 defeat against Brighton

By Mehdi Gokal -

Tottenham attacker Dejan Kulusevski has been brutally slammed by Paul O Keefe after the 4-2 defeat to Brighton.

Tottenham faced a bitter defeat against Brighton, enduring a 4-2 loss that left them reeling.

The match saw Brighton dominate for the majority of play, leaving Spurs struggling to find their rhythm until the 80th minute.

Alejo Veliz scored his first goal for the club to pull one back for the away side. It was all Spurs after that. 5 minutes later, Ben Davies scored a header to make it 4-2 and Hojbjerg came close to make it 4-3 but his effort hit the woodwork.

However, the game’s turning point occurred in the first half when star player Dejan Kulusevski’s blunder led to a needless penalty.

Star player Dejan Kulusevski has been slammed for conceding a needless penalty in the first half.

The Swede pulled back former Arsenal man Danny Welbeck’s shirt, bringing him down as he looked to get to the ball after Van Hecke’s header had come back off the post. After a VAR review, the penalty was awarded and rightly so.

Paul O’Keefe didn’t hold back, condemning Kulusevski’s actions as “braindead”. He lamented the persistence of players committing such fouls in the box, particularly in the era of VAR, emphasising the consequences that outweigh any potential gains.

He shared on X:

“It’s nearly 2024 and players in a VAR era still pull shirts in the box. There’s no way on earth the benefits outweigh the punishment. It’s braindead. Is it like when someone says don’t touch that it’s hot?”
