Tottenham goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario’s agent has been accused of trying to stir up transfer rumours in hopes of securing a new contract for his client.
Vicario, who joined Spurs from Empoli in the summer, has quickly established himself as one of the team’s standout performers, delivering remarkable saves and earning high praise in his debut season.
Despite some recent struggles with set pieces, a weakness that opposition teams have increasingly targeted, Vicario remains Tottenham’s undisputed No. 1 goalkeeper.
His performances have reportedly attracted interest from Inter Milan, with the Italian giants allegedly preparing a £25 million bid, according to Milan Live.
However, former Tottenham scout Bryan King believes these links to Inter Milan may be more of a tactic by Vicario’s agent to negotiate better terms for his client.
Speaking to Tottenham News, King said:
“I think this is his agent stirring up a little bit of interest.”
“Perhaps that is because Vicario is looking for another contract with Tottenham. He has done well since joining the club, even if there are certain things that he needs to improve on.
“Overall, he had a great season last year, and he kept Spurs in games at times.”
Vicario is under contract with Tottenham until 2028, making it unlikely that the club will be looking to renegotiate terms so soon.
Spurs signed the Italian shot-stopper as a long-term replacement for Hugo Lloris, and despite the recent rumours, it seems improbable that the club would entertain the prospect of an early exit.
While speculation regarding a move to Inter may raise eyebrows, it could well be part of a negotiation tactic from his representatives rather than a serious threat to his future at Tottenham.
