Alasdair Gold says Spurs have ‘shown considerable interest’ in Serie A star who made history this past week

By Mehdi Gokal -

Spurs have ‘shown considerable interest’ in signing another player from Genoa, Albert Gudmundsson.

That is according to Football London correspondent Alasdair Gold, who reports that Spurs are keen on securing the services of the 26-year-old as they look to bolster their attack.

The report further states that while Gudmundsson may prefer to stay in Serie A, the move of his former team-mate Radu Dragusin to Spurs could also play a part in convincing him if Tottenham do decide to make a concrete effort to sign him.

Another factor that can help play a role in his potential move to Spurs is that he is represented by the same agency as goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario, ‘GG11 agency’.

Gudmundsson’s form for club and country has impressed Tottenham

Gudmundsson has been in excellent form this season, contributing to the success of newly promoted Genoa, who currently sit comfortably just outside the top half of the table in 12th place.

The 26-year-old has scored 12 goals and provided 4 assists in 29 appearances across all competitions.

Gudmundsson’s outstanding club form carries over to the national side, where he scored a fantastic hat-trick against Israel in a 4-1 victory during the UEFA EURO Qualifiers last Thursday.

The Icelander created history by becoming the first player in 20 years to score a hat-trick in a European Championship qualifying play-off match.

Gudmundsson, whose market value is €22 million, recently renewed his contract with Genoa until June 2027.

However, negotiating with the Italian club wouldn’t pose a problem for Tottenham, given their recent dealings with them over the acquisition of Radu Dragusin in January.
