Tottenham are pushing for the signature of Bologna defensive sensation Riccardo Calafiori.
Spurs are once again looking at the market for potential defensive reinforcement and Bologna’s Riccardo Calafiori is at the top of their wishlist. According to a report from Tuttosport, Tottenham had sent scouts to watch the 21-year-old in action and Calafiori has passed the tests with flying colours.
Ange Postecoglou wants to ensure his team has enough depth and quality at the back, as a result, he is pushing for the signing of another centre-half despite having added Micky van de Ven and Radu Drăgușin to his squad over the past two transfer windows.
Calafiori seems to have taken his game to another level since joining Bologna last summer. The former AS Roma youth product has excelled under the guidance of Thiago Motta and his impressive performances have put him on the radar of Tottenham.
The Italian youth international prefers playing as a centre-back but he can be used as a left-back or a left wing-back when needed. His consistent performances, huge potential and versatility are major reasons why the North London club want to sign him.
They had recently sent scouts to follow the 21-year-old and watch him in action and he seems to have impressed them. As a result, Spurs are plotting a move in the upcoming window. He is valued at over €25 million by the Bologna director Giovanni Sartori, a fee that would be affordable for Tottenham. But, they will have to convince the player about their project as he prefers staying in Italy and there is strong interest in him from Juventus.
