Tottenham Hotspur scouts had their eye on Ederson as Atalanta stunned Liverpool 3-0 at Anfield.
While Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool suffered at the hands of Atalanta in the first leg of the Europa League quarter-finals, scouts from top English clubs had their eyes on a few exciting talents who were in action for the Italian outfit on the night.
According to a report by HITC, Tottenham and Manchester United scouts were present in the stands to watch this first-leg fixture. They had their eyes on Atalanta’s Ederson who has been in sensational form throughout the season and had another outstanding game.
The Brazilian arrived at the Italian club in the summer of 2022. The first season might not have gone as planned, but the 24-year-old seems to have picked up the pace in his second season at the club. He has featured in 40 matches, racked up over 3,200 minutes and despite being a defensive midfielder he has seven goal contributions.
His impressive performances since the start of the season are one of the major reasons why scouts from Spurs and the Red Devils were in the stands of Anfield. He didn’t disappoint them as the 24-year-old helped his team keep it tight at the back and earn a hard-fought clean sheet.
Ange Postecoglou wants to reinforce his midfield in the summer with Giovani Lo Celso and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg expected to part ways with the club in the summer. He is looking for an athletic, energetic midfielder and Ederson seems to fit the bill. He will be a perfect fit for the Australian manager’s aggressive possession-based style of play and his performance against Liverpool might just have convinced them. But, with Manchester United in the mix, it won’t be easy for Spurs to sign the 24-year-old from Atalanta.
