Tottenham reportedly keeping tabs on Bundesliga player valued at £30M+

By Saikat -

Tottenham Hotspur has been linked with a move for the Croatian defender Josko Gvardiol.

Journalist Ekrem Konur sent out a tweet earlier today implying that the likes of Chelsea, Manchester City, Tottenham, and Newcastle at keeping tabs on the young defender.

Earlier this month, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano linked the player with a move to the London club as well. He revealed in an interview with Give Me Sport, that the young defender is appreciated by the Premier League side, but it would take a crazy fee to lure him away from RB Leipzig.

The 20-year-old defender signed for the German club at the start of last season, and he has been outstanding for them in the Bundesliga.

The highly-rated defender is regarded as a world-class talent, and he has the potential to develop into a top-class centre-back. It is no secret that Tottenham will need to bring in a quality partner for Cristian Romero, and the Croatian seems like the ideal long-term addition.

The Bundesliga defender is an impressive leader of the game, and he’s quite strong in the air. Furthermore, the Croatian is a technically gifted player with outstanding passing ability.

The defender is valued at in excess of £30 million by TransferMarkt and others. It is highly unlikely that the Londoners will spend that kind of money on the youngster anytime soon, and Leipzig is reportedly unwilling to sell the player as well.

Furthermore, the likes of Manchester City and Newcastle have more financial resources compared to Tottenham and the last thing the Londoners would entertain is a bidding war, even if the player was up for grabs.

In addition to that, Tottenham have recently agreed on a loan deal to bring the Barcelona defender Clement Lenglet to the Premier League for next season.

It will be interesting to see how the situation evolves over the next few weeks, but it is fair to assume that any move for the defender would have to wait until next summer at the very least.
