Tottenham Hotspur are keen on signing the Bayer Leverkusen defender Edmond Tapsoba this summer.
The 24 year old has been linked with a move to the Premier League for weeks.
As per Patrick Berger, the London club are now ‘pushing’ to sign the player and they are ‘planning to make a new offer’ for him soon.
The Burkina Faso international has been a key player for the Bundesliga club and he has the quality to thrive in the Premier League as well.
Tapsoba could develop into a key player for Ange Postecoglou’s side next season. He will add defensively quality, pace and athleticism at the back.
Tottenham need to find a quality partner for Cristian Romero and the Bundesliga star certainly fits the profile.
Tapsoba is still only 24 and he is likely to improve with coaching and experience. The deal could prove to be a bargain in the long run if he manages to hit the ground running and fulfil his potential with the north London club.
Berger claims that Spurs could offer around €45 million but the Bundesliga side are likely to hold out for more.
It remains to be seen whether Spurs are prepared to break the bank for him this summer.
Tapsoba is not the only defender on Tottenham’s radar this summer. They are thought to be keen on the Wolfsburg star Micky van de Ven as well.
