Tottenham plotting January raid on PL rivals for 24-year-old to deal with injury blow

By Saikat -

Tottenham Hotspur are looking to improve their defensive options during the January transfer window, and they have identified the Chelsea defender Trevoh Chalobah as an option.

The 24-year-old was linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge during the summer transfer window, but he ended up staying at the London club.

He has not been a regular starter for Chelsea and the player could be keen on a move away. A report from Football Insider claims that Tottenham are plotting a January swoop for the Chelsea defender following Micky van de Ven’s injury blow.

Apparently, Chelsea could be open to selling him as well in order to raise funds for their own signings.

German outfit Bayern Munich are keeping tabs on the young defender as well and it remains to be seen whether Tottenham can win the race for his signature.

The 24-year-old Chelsea defender is versatile enough to operate as a right back as well as a central defender. He could be the ideal utility player for Tottenham and it remains to be seen how the situation develops.

If Tottenham can provide him with gametime assurances, the 24-year-old could be keen on the move. He wants to prove himself with regular football in the Premier League and Spurs could provide him with that platform.

Tottenham have started the season well and Van de Ven has been a key player for them. They will have to replace him while he is sidelined with an injury if they want to sustain their current run of form.
