Tottenham plot summer move for midfielder with 16 goals & 17 assists this season

By Saikat -

Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with a move for the Celtic midfielder Matt O’Riley.

According to Give Me Sport, they will face competition from West Ham United for the 23-year-old midfielder this summer.

O’Riley has been in phenomenal form with 16 goals and 17 assists in all competitions. He can slot in as a central midfielder as well as an attacking midfielder. Spurs could use more craft and goals from the middle of the park and he would be the ideal acquisition for them.

The midfielder has played under Ange Postecoglou during their time together at Celtic and GMS are claiming that the Australian manager wants a reunion with the Denmark international. It will be interesting to see if Tottenham follow up on their interest with an official proposal.

Celtic might not want to sell a key player in the summer, but the midfielder could be tempted. If a big club like Tottenham comes calling. They have the resources to tempt the Scottish outfit into selling the midfielder as well.

A move to the Premier League will be an exciting opportunity for O’Riley and competing against top class players in English football will accelerate his development and help him improve as a footballer. The midfielder is still relatively young and he will only get better with coaching and experience. If Tottenham can sign him for a reasonable price this summer, it could look like an exceptional bit of business.

Spurs will face competition from West Ham United as well, but it is fair to assume that they have a more exciting project compared to the Hammers and the player might fancy the opportunity to join them instead of their London rivals. The report further adds that the midfielder could cost around £25 million this summer and Tottenham should be able to afford him.
