Tottenham plot move for record-breaking attacker with 24 goal contributions this season

By Saikat -

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly keen on signing the Feyenoord striker Santiago Gimenez.

A report from Football Insider claims that the striker is likely to cost more than £60 million and the Dutch outfit do not want to cash in on him during the January transfer window.

Feyenoord are chasing the league title and they will hold on to him until the end of the season. Tottenham will face competition from clubs like Chelsea and Arsenal as well.

Gimenez has been outstanding for Feyenoord over the past year and the 22-year-old recently smashed Luis Suarez’s record for the most Eredivisie goals in a calendar year scoring 31 goals in 35 games.

The attacker has been in fine form this season as well scoring 20 goals and picking up four assists along the way. He helped Feyenoord win the league title last season scoring 28 goals in the process.

There is no doubt that he is a proven goalscorer and he could develop into a world-class striker with coaching and experience. Tottenham are yet to replace Harry Kane with a specialist striker and the Mexico international could be the ideal option for them.

It will be interesting to see if Tottenham are willing to break the bank for him. They will need to secure Champions League qualification in order to attract a talent like him and they must look to move swiftly in order to beat rivals like Arsenal and Chelsea to his signature.
